The Moment of ' TRUTH'

As I woke up, I was waiting anxiously for the day where our group members would be able to film the part where Ting Yu, Aaron and I would be talking and of Ting Yu flicking away the puppet. But first thing's first, I had to attend my MMFund lesson.

Gosh~!! To tell you honestly, I think I wasn’t able to catch up with the rest. I became frantic that even after the lesson ended, I called up Yi Chuin to ask her if she would like to go up to level six but she declined. I even asked some of my fellow classmates who were in the same class as me for MMFund and they too, didn't know the problem that I had encountered.

So, being me as always, when I am frantic or rather anxious, I will call someone. Ting Yu came to my mind in particular as she had taken this module before. Yet again, the problem wasn't solved. Oh ya… Not forgetting that I was pretty dumbfounded seeing Aaron with Ting Yu when I only called her to come up and help me. Anyway, we three then went down to look for Yi Chuin.

Getting ready to film but the mood soon died down when Yi Chuin shouted " Why are you all staring at me?" and then, she just stormed out of the classroom. We, of course were rather puzzled due to the fact that we had just arrived. But after reading Yi Chuin's blog, I must admit that it was actually our entire fault too- for making Yi Chuin waiting that long.

I would like to use this blog as an opportunity to apologize to everyone including Yi Chuin so that our group may be reconciled again. I wouldn't want this to become a barrier between us as it will not only just affect the production and of our friendship as well.

Anyway, when Yi Chuin was being consoled by her friends, we (Ting Yu, Aaron and I) decided to film the part where Aaron would be looking at the storyboard and the puppet would just walk through the frames. We headed to the Video Fundamental's room where Aaron was seen seated onto a chair holding the storyboard. The take was good I believe but maybe we should take another shot just in case?

I must tell you, it was pretty weird as the whole atmosphere was changed. But things have to go on right? Guess what, I believed Yi Chuin finally settled down and even smiled when Ting Yu, Aaron and I were 'acting'. Ha-ha... Finally caught you smiling.

Aaron proposed that we sat down opposite each other but when it was filmed and we preview it, we could only see the side view of our faces. This time, I proposed where we will all be standing up and Yi Chuin would film it at worm's eye view. Not to mention, that I would forget my lines here and there during the filming and even add silly things. I have seriously no clue why but I always add the word 'Pang sai'. We definitely took many shots of that due to the fact that many people were also walking around and of course; of their loud audio and noise irrupting our filming.

Let me think... Oh ya... Aaron even gave a Sian look when he looked at the camera. I was like OH my God~!! So we may intend to cut off his face. Maybe we will cut and paste around with the previous takes too. Have to discuss about this with the group.

Yeh~!! So I really hope this wouldn't affect us as a whole. We have to be strong and determined remember? Let this fall backs be a lesson learnt. I mean everyone will surely face ups and downs.

Back to generating of more ideas for my MMFund.
Wish me luck again.

Run Ting Yu Run!!

The rainy day has come. Opps... I mean the next day which was today has arrived.

Today, our main objective was to take photos of Ting Yu running or maybe even filming her running. Thankfully, she remembered to bring the clothing that we requested her to wear as the same day when we filmed her running in the Video Fundamental's class, if not we may have to film her the next day again.

Sad to say, not all group members were here. Aaron woke up late and had something on from 3-6pm so he wasn't able to help us with the shoot.

It was also tough having to find a single door. If I am not wrong Mr. Julian mentioned that it would look drastic having to see Ting Yu running towards a two sided door (if you know what I mean that is) to a one sized door. Due to his statement, we heeded his advice and it was sure tough trying to see where Ting Yu could run and don't forget that she could only run to a one sided door. But luckily for us, we managed to find the perfect location for her running which was of an alley, very close to the design's school canteen.

This was an image that I took when Ting Yu was running:

Amazingly, I felt that I like this photo very much due to its dramatic effect upon seeing it and Ting Yu somehow looks like a monster or something trying to escape hell or rather wanting to enter the world and have freedom. This was my interpretation when I saw this picture.

This is just a clearer and brighter picture of the alley that i was mentioning:

However, the next problem had yet to come; taking photos of Ting Yu running.
I must admit, it was really tedious having to take the sequence of Ting Yu running and on top of that it MUST NOT BE BLUR. Yi Chuin and I tried taking multiple shots of Ting Yu running with the school's mini DV camera and my aunt's camera respectively, but once again, the photos came out blur.

Oh my God!! What must be done to solve this problem?" I pondered to myself.
I believed Yi Chuin was also having a tough time having to solve this problem too.
Mr. Alan did mention that Ting Yu could run on a track mill behind a blue screen but the problem was how on earth do we get the track mill. Instead, to make our jobs easier, we thought of actually just filming Ting Yu and put the tape to either After Effects or Premiere cutting off every frame; as in making photos of each frame. Suddenly, I recalled that we had learnt the adjustment of shutter speed from photography lesson where we can actually capture a car moving in slow motion with the right shutter speed that is. So with this in mind, we tried changing the shutter speed. However, the images were UNDER EXPOSED. (It means very dark/ no light) Hmm... Come to think of it, we may get a light thingy (if you get what I mean) but the problem would be that the lighting may vary which will look weird.

So once again, we sat down and try thinking of solutions. Yup, we actually gave up taking photos of Ting Yu running and chose to film her running as what I had mentioned earlier at the top.

You thought that our problem was over but guess again...
This time when we filmed Ting Yu running, no doubt that she was running towards the one sided door. However, the problem was when she ran into the Video Fundamental’s room- there was a small window or an opening on the door.

* Headache again man*

So this time, we sat down on the floor and think again. Woot!! Yi Chuin actually thought of a brilliant idea where the camera could actually be the door knob where Ting Yu can just open the 'camera' so that we need not show the door.
GREAT idea Yi Chuin. How come I didn't think of that... ha-ha… My brain was rusty.

Yup... The shoot was successful. Ting Yu ran through the alley multiple times but with a Sian look so I asked her to give a very anxious expression and even demonstrate for her to see. WAA LAH it turned out even better.

Oh ya, not to forget that I actually wanted to just zoom in to her legs then slowly zooming out to show her full body running but it seems to be inappropriate so we decided forgo that idea. Anyway, I am really satisfied with that scene. Just for your information, this scene consists of two shots- as in two locations. The next location that Ting Yu went was outside of the Video Fundamental’s room where Ting Yu actually opens the door but we focus more on her hands opening the door.

I think today my brain really thought a lot man. GREAT job for both Ting Yu and Yi Chuin. Due to the fact that Aaron didn't come today, so we didn't have the chance to film him looking at the storyboard while the puppet walks across the storyboard. But anyway, JOB WELL DONE FOR EVERYONE.

[Extra information: Both Yi Chuin and Ting Yu decided to meet up earlier tomorrow to edit the door]

Take care

Mr. Ronald is THE MAN~

Was actually approached yesterday by Germaine to help them out with their introduction today. However, things went to a big turn. I was being held back in the MMFund room doing my MMFund work, of course.

Big apologies..

Shermin helped instead and guessed what... The introduction turned out well. Woot~!! Good job people! Not forgetting the hard effort that Yi Chuin put in by getting 'students' to gather around Mr. Ronald.
Thanks and sorry for not being able to help much though.

I believe Mr. Ronald felt like THE MAN at that point of time. And i must tell you, he is very adorable. Know something he is camera shy.. Aww.. He actually forgotten his lines and asked us to write it on the white board.( Same as me actually ) Almost wanted to laugh but anyway what he was supposed to do was actually to tell the students not to erase their mistakes and of course, answering of students' questions if they have one. Most importantly was to comment on Ting Yu's drawing and said she has improved drastically. Haha..

Not to mention thanks to Raj, Greg, Germaine and many others in helping us, sit around Mr. Ronald. I think if it wasn't for you guys, the filming wouldn't be made possible.

Not to mention, when Raj asked whether his drawing was okay, Mr. Ronald said that his monkey was out of proportion and Raj said it wasn't supposed to be a monkey. Damn that was funny; I believe many people were laughing. And of course, Greg's dog which looks like a cat.

To Aaron: Sorry for saying some hurtful words to you i believe: The part where i said i hinted you to get a closer footage of Raj and Mr. Ronald communicating together. But really thanks for your help too ya.

Oh ya.. Yi chuin too. Thanks for making the film turn out well..

Indeed yours and Aaron have a difference in the composition. But anyway GREAT job for the both of you.
Wow! Not to mention. The 'actress' Ting Yu. Haha... Great job in asking and of the flipping of the book.

Did i mention that Mr. Ronald actually twist in front of the camera. Man that was childish.. Just kidding, in fact it was way cute. By the time, we completed filming as of today, it was actually close to five i believe, so we headed down to the Business School's canteen. I know that Ting Yu likes salmon so i recommended her the western dish in that school canteen.

But the sad thing was the salmon dish ran out. How sad can that be? We ate the grilled fish instead and it tasted as well as the salmon.

EVERYONE i recommend you to eat the salmon dish in Business's canteen.

Oh ya.. Not to mention that we were supposed to take photos or rather film Ting Yu running too. However, she didn't wear the same clothes as she wore few days back so we had to take her tomorrow instead.. Yup

Hope things will turn out smoothly for our group k. Hope we can complete it. Anyway i am back to doing the flowchart of my MMFund work.

Wish me luck.
Take care

The Flying "SHOE" incident

Today as we were ready to go and see how the angles should be like, in the video fundamentals room, we happened to chanced upon Cheryl Wang's group. They asked us whether they could use our video camera and also approached us in helping with their film. We agreed to lend a helping hand. Thus, the delay of us going to the room and seeing of the angles.

While waiting for them to prepare everything and including telling us what to do, we actually sat and played with our feets.. Quite lame right but it was COOL. Awhile later,I was told that i will be the second person who will be slapping Derrick but this was changed where i have to join my group mates filming down one of Derrick's friend slapping him for the Video Fundamentals purposes. Indeed, many shots were taken. Who likes to slap people anyway? Derrick's friend would slap very softly you see, so many takes were done. Due to the fact, that the slapping scene was quite fun and they haven't finalised their shoot, Aaron and I decided to demonstrate for Cheryl's group members to see. But the worst thing was when i was supposed to slap Aaron's face softly, i actually slap him hard on and in fact, his spectacles flew off due to the impact.

To Aaron: Sorry.. I really didn't mean to hit your face. But i really don't know why. Is like i am really in that situation, it was only when i saw your spectacles flying off, did i notice i was acting. I will treat you to dinner one day of course.

I believe that was the first time i ever experienced that. Is it also the same for actresses to act the same way as i did? Like not knowing that they are acting till something happened. I tell you the feeling was just TERRIFIC. Is like you are very engrossed into the lines till you can't differentiate between reality and fantasy. Really hope that this incident wouldn't scar his face for life.

Anyway, we then continued helping them pretending to film down on the slapping scene between Derrick's friend and him that is. After the shoot was over, i was really shocked as we are just 1 minute away from the time we asked Mr. Julian to help. Gosh~!! [ We really don't mean to do last minute work ] We rushed down to the Video Fundamentals room. One by one students [ the helpers ] came in and occupied the class. There, Yi Chuin was asking Mr. Julian whether our story board was alright and so forth. Yi Chuin was the camera woman for this scene. I believe she was shock to know this.

To Yi Chuin: I know how you felt. But not to worry , it turned out well. Thanks alot..

First, Yi Chuin took the main shot. It was only after i see the main shot then did we try other angles.

Sorry 'actors' for waiting so long in the room. Thanks for all your help.

I told Yi Chuin to try Aaron's point of view when Aaron is asking a question and of Mr. Julian's point of view too. Really hope the scene for this one turns out well. In worst case scenario, we may have to reshoot it again.

To Mr. Julian: Thanks for helping us with the film. Sorry for making you wait so long. Your help is greatly appreciated from Stone Productions. and Co.

Remember i mentioned filming Mr. Ronald today as well? However, he said he had something to attend to and told us to schedule him to the next day, which we did. Once again, we got crazy and played computer games as a form to release stress. I even took photos of us playing the games. Wanted to post it here so that everyone could see. However, something went terribly wrong. I didn't know what i had pressed and the pictures couldn't be posted. On top of that, we became more crazy and took photos of ourselves again.

This was an image when Aaron was sleeping:

This is the image when they took photo of me:

But anyway by the time we had to shoot Ting Yu running, the sky was getting dark so we planned to take her tomorrow. Not to mention that we were informed to help Cheryl's group again on Thursday as they would like to reshoot the scene i believe.

[Reminder to Groupmates: Wear the same clothing as of today for Thursday alright and to take video of Ting Yu running ]

Hope tomorrow will be more productive... Last and not the least, due to the fact that i was really crazy, i suggested imitating the thousand hand godness.

This was the outcome:
I tried modifying Ting Yu's emotion after seeing it _)_ Cute horz.. Really hope tomorrow will be more productive. ( T^T )God please help us k.
Thanks alot for everyone who has helped us once again.

God Bless

Productive Day indeed

The first thing that came to my mind was to print my blogs. Gosh~! After completing printing them, i was actually shocked to see 64 pages ,where i paid $25 just for them. * Heart aches * I rushed to hand it up to Lecturer Wahidah. [ Really hopes she wouldn't find it boring ]

I must say that today was indeed a productive day. Yi Chuin was so happy that she even announced to the whole of our group members :" Don't you feel happy? " Guess what was our reply... " YES~!! "

Let me tell you the secret why Yi Chuin was so happy. She was so satisfied with my performance. HAHA.. Okie maybe not, just my wishful thinking. She was just happy that we started the content.

No doubt that i only managed to get two hours of precious sleep, i was very happy that it didn't drain out my energy completely. In fact, i still had the energy to laugh when it was my scene to be filmed. We went into the ideation room earlier than what we had expected and at the same time waiting for Mr. Alan to appear to help us with the film. From there, we tried and tested which angles would best be portrayed out so that once Mr. Alan comes, we would be ready and just start filming. Time passes and passed the time where we were supposed to start the film.

Yi Chuin was so frantic, that she searched high and low for him. At last, he was called upon and entered into the ideation room. So basically, what Mr. Alan would do was just to comment on my Character Design assignment and asked me to placed it along with the others. As for me, i had to grab hold of the camera, facing it to me and adjust the camera abit. If you were to notice, this part had changed.

Remember in my previous blog, i said i would grab the camera from the bottom but this time round, i already placed my hand onto the camera and just move it to the front of my face. Following next, i would just talk towards the camera. I did try memorising my lines. However, when i looked into the camera, some of my lines which were supposed to be said, was immediately forgotten. I must say, it was really tough having to speak facing directly to the camera. So what my clever group mates suggested, was to write down my lines onto a piece of paper, placing it directly above the camera. The splendid thing was, it couldn't be seen that i was actually reading from the script. Way to go group mates for thinking this idea. Ta Daahh.. The scene came out smoothly and everyone was pleased with my so- called acting.

To Mr. Alan: Thanks for the help given man. It was greatly appreciated.
To Group members: Yipee~! One scene down, how many more to go?

The next scene that we took was the part when the puppet flew past the 2d works. We skipped and headed to this scene as it was told that we had to place the 2d artworks back to level five, latest by tomorrow noon. So no time to lose and there it was, we decided to take this shot. Aaron showed us how the camera would be moving and what to capture. Since many art works had already been placed up, we took and have to place the reminding art works side by side. Man! It was heavy. Anyway, when Ting Yu was holding the camera and running past the art works, i found it jerky and at the same time similar to 'Clover Field' the movie which was abit dizzy as well. Though this, an idea struck my head. "Why don't we use the trolley?" i said to my group members. Wow!! I can tell you man. When Ting Yu used the trolley, the effect was different. It was exactly the feeling i wanted it to be. PERFECTO~!! This is an image of Ting Yu playing with the trolley i guess:

Oh ya, not forgetting that after taking that scene, i actually pushed Ting Yu where she sits on the trolley and what she is going to say next touches me. She said i can be a roller coaster executive or even be in charge of the design of roller roaster. Thanks Ting Yu. Oh ya.. Want to see how Ting Yu is being pushed when she films?

Here is the actual video of it:

Oh my god, i almost forgot to mention. I was really impressed that Aaron's idea was brilliant. As we had to move/ shake one of the art work when the puppet bounced on it, Aaron could actually find a long string and tied it along the handles where Yi Chuin could just pull it. Haha... The funny part was when Aaron asked me to find strings, i took Ting Yu's shoelaces instead. Resulting to Ting Yu doing the scene and filming bare footed with only her socks on. After these two scenes were done, we were actually very satisfied with it and proceeded to go back to the MOI production room, taking photos of ourselves as a form of releasing stress. But the sad thing was when i actually took alot of images of the fun times that our group had, Aaron just deleted it. Arghh..But anyway, no doubt that the entire process and filming was tiring but it was great fun and was definitely worth it.

At six in the evening, i went to attend the SA meeting in the Comdi room on level three while Yi Chuin was at the bench drawing out how the puppet would look like. She actually drew and drew and thought of making the puppet chibilised which i find it to be cute. Great work man. Keep up the good work. This was the puppet that she drew:

Not forgetting, that she also voiced out saying that i wrote her script too long and would want to shorten the script herself. Haha.. and also on the sketch book where the last page would be torn off. Hehex.. comments she said could be seen in Yi Chuin's blog. True enough, everything was settled and we headed back home. And i, of course continue and lay down on my bed. Cheers on. Will get to sleep now.

[Reminder to Group members- Please remember your scripts as we are filming Mr. Ronald and Mr. Julian tomorrow.]

Best of Lucks

Family Day is ESSENTIAL to me

"Yawn..." was the first word that came out of my mouth as I stretched my body, ready to get out of bed. Haha... As usual, we will get kick with a good start on Sunday as my whole family could be together with me.

Attention: Do cherish your loved ones even if they are beside you as of now. Don’t regret once it is too late to even say 'I love you' to them. Cherish them with care while you can.

Anyway, I went to attend New Creation's last service which was at 5pm due to the fact that I woke up late again. Haha...
Sorry Heavenly Father, I think I lack of sleep you see
Heavenly Father: Just rest on me and I shall give you peace
The service was AWESOME. I even felt God's presence when everyone shouted. It's like this tingling feeling, hmm... one word to describe it "REMARKABLE ". My family then headed to my ah gong house where we watched channel U and channel 8 as well. The show "jin san shun" is nice.

It was nine plus by then so I hurried my parents to send me back home to do my blogs. And here I am, typing my blog. Not forgetting that both Yi Chuin and I actually wanted to have an online conference. However, Ting Yu and Aaron were tired so we may intend to discuss further tomorrow I believe. Here was my chance talking to Yi Chuin alone. I asked her and told her the importance of the change of clothing. If we were to film of different clothing for different modules, it goes to show it is of the next day. So we were thinking whether we want the audience to think we were in school the next day or these modules will be conducted the whole of one day. But come to think of it, I think we have to change and wear different clothing for every two module to show that one month has at least two modules.

What do you think? Not to forget that I had to memorize my script to be said tomorrow with Mr. Alan where he will help us to act.

Thanks Mr. Alan sorry to trouble you though.

So this was basically the discussion we had today I believe. Haha... Guess what the time is now. It's already 4 am so I have to sleep.

Not forgetting that I have lesson early in the morning tomorrow.
So yup take care people

Photo-genic Fun of Time

Remember... I once said that our group members were not really satisfied with our introduction, so here we are again. Standing before the gigantic entrance of design school. This time round, our main focus was to do it like as though it is the real one and no more trials.( Okie maybe a few more ) Furthermore, we had to do the introduction of the group members quite fast as Ting Yu had to leave by 2.15pm as she has work to do at 3pm.

I am not sure why but is it me or our group is getting more unlucky and every time something will crop up. When we were ready to shoot and no one was walking along the design entrance ramp, we held and prepared for the scene and all of a sudden, it said that the cassette was spoilt or rather unclean. This really made my heart sank as it was really a perfect timing and a nice time where we can actually shoot and this just happened. So yup Ting Yu, Yi Chuin and I decided to go and buy a new cassette which costs 8 dollars.

Okie and the worst thing was when we actually bought the cassette and came back, Aaron said the unclean cassette was Okie already. Making our hearts but saddened I believe, but anyway the show has to go on. When we are beginning and ready for the shoot, the same problem happened again where people would just take their time to walk. But thankfully that was over as some people are also sensible to actually move away or even walk faster upon seeing the video camera.

To Aaron: Wah!! Why you always say I look U*G*L*Y ah. Humph~!

But anyway, I knew what I had to do, so I had no problem with it. But I really pity Ting Yu as for her, she not only had to run in front and jump as well. Not forgetting that we shot the scene for like more than ten times. *Hint- Ting Yu runs and jumps more than 10 times. As for me, I squat down and stand up more than 10 times and to think Aaron can actually say it is like a good exercise ground for me where my objective was to actually gain weight and not slim down.

I can tell you, it was really tough where Aaron had to take me then zoom in to Ting Yu and then swing the camera facing to him. Once he forgot to zoom out, the whole scene would be wrong and we have to take again, thus taking it more than ten times. I could also see Ting Yu getting more tired and perspiring along the way too.

*Good News

Sorry Ting Yu, you make yourself so tired and on top of that you have to go work straight away after this. One day I will give you all a treat k for your hard effort being put in here. Finally, I think after don't know how many times ah, our scene whereby filming of Aaron, Ting Yu and me was ready, Ting Yu rushed off to work with her lightning speed. The rest of us, Aaron, Yi Chuin and I proceeded to film the flowy journey. During the filming, Aaron and i actually got carried away and took photos of ourselves and Yi Chuin too ( reluntant fella ). I may include and add the images here once Aaron send it to me.

Lisewise again, the same problems occured where people walking along the bridge took their time to walk. We took many takes over and over again but decided not to focus and pay so much attention to the flowy thingy part. We then headed off to the 3d animation room where Yi Chuin showed us the animated door and this time with the motion like as though the journey through the door, if you get what i mean that is. I felt it was a job well done. Thanks Yi Chuin! Two thumbs up for you. Great JOb!

Not to mention, we also did some trial runs of Yi Chuin holding up her sketch book and tried different angles as well.

After that , Joel came to the picture, where he actually had plans to roller skate with Aaron and

Thus using the ultra super powers
Aaron, Yi chuin and Joel had come to save the world
Using their ultra roller blade
They left me and skate so freely.

[Tune of the powerpuff girls ]
[ Inspired by the powerpuff girls ]

Not to mention, it was only after eating of KFC food did they left me. Haha... Is actually more like i left them.

Time to go and have a good nice sleep. Take care human

The LAST day of DHC

It was heard a few days back that there wouldn't be class conducted today. Instead, Mr. Alfie would be booking LT 25 to showscreen a film or rather a movie which he recommended strongly to us to watch and even said it could change our views of life, i assumed i guess. However, sad to say, i wasn't able to make it. In fact, i think all of my group members didn't make it. The reason why would most probably be presenting the assignment, or the other was to prepare the DHC assignment which actually comprises 70% of our grades.

For me, i didn't manage to get a good night sleep the previous day. In fact, the next day which is today, when i woke up, i decided to redo my DHC assignment from stretch which resulted to why i wasn't able to attend and watch the showscreen film at 12am. I was researching on Bill Gates and i must say that he is one really determined man. I believed his vision was actually to link and connect the world through his technology and softwares that he had created, which he not just succeeded and fulifilled his dreams but even impacting and affecting many other peoples' lifestyles as we speak.

Even as of now, technology has still been advancing. I believed strongly that his hard effort had been paid off. Even now i am also using his technology just to type my blog. I believed that if it wasn't of his determination and motivation to even do this computer and of the microsoft, we wouldn't be so fortunate to enjoy his blissful fruits that he had created. He really impacted the world through the things that he had programmed. So we should have a vision too~!!

After attending DHC class, where everyone took turns to present, i left the class. Waited for Yi Chuin to end her class. While i was waiting, i just leaned against the wall and i could hear someone saying that "I didn't know now they still punish students to stand out of class" and on top of that, when i turned around, i actually saw Lecturers such as Mr. Alan, Mr. Alfie and Amanda. Mr. Alan actually was wondering how on earth was i able to stand straight when the bag that i carried was bigger than me.

To Mr. Alan: I know, you are indirectly trying to imply that i am strong. Thanks for your motivational words. I will bear that in mind.

After Yi Chuin left the class, we actually did a trial run on the snapping of running sequence using my aunty's camera which she borrowed me just yesterday. We tried, however it still turned out to be blur. Solution that we thought of was most probably Ting Yu has to run in slow motion so that the images captured would be more clear. Now the problem that we faced would be how we could actually link Ting Yu running to the video fundamentals' room, which made us dealt such a huge blow, having to think the solution for this one. Not forgetting that Yi Chuin was kind of worried that i would be blocking the view of the audience when i had to grab hold of the camera. So i actually thought of grabbing the camera from the bottom that easily solves this problem.

We didn't had discussions today as Ting Yu had to go off earlier to attend her voice over course and Aaron went to work i believe. After that, i saw Lecturer Amanda and told her i was going to attend the cell group which is held in the design school canteen. I attended the cell group and to think someone even thought that i do not know how to play badminton and worst still don't even know how a badminton racket would look like. Sobz...

But anyway, thanks Yi Chuin for accompanying me all the way through the end of the cell group. I hope now you would have a clearer picture of how a cell group runs and how it is like. I really appreciate it. Yup..

We have decided to meet up tomorrow most probably at 10 or 11 am to take of the introduction of group members and of the flowy journey as like i had mentioned before, we wasn't that satisfied with the takes that we took.

Off i go, diving in to my wonderful bed.
Thinking along my project as i sleep. See ya...

It is HERE

Indeed, today was the interim assessment day where teacher would want to know how we have progressed so far as to what we have done and not done as well. I was supposed to go school earlier to meet up my group mates so that they are able to have a look of my powerpoint slides and be familiarised with it.

But what came out unexpected, was the fact that i woke up late. The worst thing was when i woke up, it was EXACTLY 12pm sharp. I deeply and sincerely apologises from the bottom of my heart for causing such inconvenience to many people. Not forgetting that yesterday, we imported the 'introduction' file into the computer of 3d animation room and tried rendering the trial run version of the introduction. It actually took us like ages just waiting for the film to render, so we had decided to put it in our slides the next day which is today. The problem was when it had rendered finished and i wanted to put it in my thumbdrive and then to the powerpoint slides itself , my thumbdrive ran out of space which meant that we couldn't put the example and show it to teacher.
Sorry once again.

I was really panicky at that point of time, having seen or rather felt unlucky since the time i woke up [ like as though i woke from the wrong side of bed ]. And i would like to take this opportunity in here to thank God that the presentation turned out well and smooth too. I have promise to the rest of my group members that this would not happen again as in i will not be waking up late and of cause, we will be super prepared this time.

I was in awe when i saw 'snap' presented their introduction, it was indeed interesting and the fact where they looked so united and well rehearsed during presentation made me full of envious. Making me wanting to look up to them as a role model for presentation. And as for Raj's group, i was truly fascinated in the amount that they have done, [eg introduction, ending and they just left four scenes to film ] in fact it made me think that my group did little but it was also because our introduction turned out to be trial trun instead due to our high expectations. When i saw Joel's group presenting the introduction clip and the content as well, i found it to be very long. Maybe they could add a touch of excitement or to make it more lively instead. Overall, i felt it was a job well done and everyone did a great job.

Even Germaine's group where they actually drew Mr. Alan in animated form was very cute. Haha... Can't wait to see their ending product man. I was also proud of my group's presentation as Lecturer Wahidah did comment that it was good having to set our goals into what to be completed which made my heart at ease. Thanks Lecturer Wahidah. Haha, and if you have never notice, i used to be a perfectionist when i was younger. When i put the books in my cupboard, it has to be neatly arranged. Just the tilt of a book would make my heart uneasy and i will put it upright. Now, i am beginning to feel that my childhood 'perfectionist' attitude is coming again, making me more stress and bringing pressure not just to myself but my group members as well.

Sorry group members.

At times, i would always ask them if our group are slow in production. Once again, i want to thank my group members as if it wasn't for them, this presentation wouldn't run smoothly or even being taken place. Haha... the same thing happened again is that after the interim assessment, we didn't really get to discuss as yup YOU GUESSED IT, we had another DHC assignment to present which was to be handled up tomorrow and this time it was more crucial as it consists 70% of our marks.
Having trouble to who and what i should research on..
Back to DHC business.
Take care once again..
Everyone will do well for DHC yeh..

God bless

Nites.

The Time is Near - once again

* [ Presentation of DHC assignment went out well ]

Today, we tried doing the introduction of the flowy journey and of the introduction of the group members as well. Man i tell you.. Don't just see and think that both the introduction of members and flowy journey looks easy to do. In fact, it was so tedious that it actually took us quite awhile to film it man.

Most of the time, the scene or rather the shoot turned out to be either not smooth or looks jerky instead. Therefore, we had to take it over and over again. I think for more than five times as what we wanted was more of a smooth and also not making the audience to feel giddy; which was really tough to do as well and to give the feeling that we wanted. Furthermore, we wanted to take the flowy journey thing where noone would be present. However, whenever we wanted to take, people would always walk past the bridge. Thus, wasted our time having to wait for them taking their time to walk.

Up till now, our flowy thingy is not finalised yet as it was still jerky i believe. We also did on the introduction of our group members and indeed, we faced the same problem. People were walking past the design entrance which also slowed down our process. Sorry members but we really cant blame people for walking ya. Furthermore, the part where Ting Yu had to jump looks kind of weird, so we decided to let her run up front and then jump. I believe it was tough for Aaron having to zoom accurately showing Ting Yu's full body once she jump. Thanks Aaron for the work well done.We did our introduction and tried animating of the door. Thanks Yi Chuin for doing the door for us. She helped to do the door, at least today we finalised the colour of the door which was to be red.

However, we wasn't sure what colour the frame outside the door should be. Hmm.. Having a tough time to think i guess. Luckily many people helped and some of their inputs were taken. Raj who was just a few metres beside us working on his mountains, said that red would be nice for the outside frame of the door. Both Ting Yu and Aaron gave the same comments as well. So yup we had finalised the colour of the door which is to be red and the frame would be darker red. The red would be of the left side of the door, the darker red has not been placed yet at the moment.

It will look something like this:

Laugh out loud.. Looking at the time now, we nearly forgot that there would be an interim assessment the next day. We panicked and our hearts nearly came out. Thank God, Aaron had already completed the script after Wahidah commented on it. We again discussed what should be included in the slides. I did the slides and send it to Yi Chuin to give comments on it and she said it was okie.
Here was the slides' content:

Reason for adding puppet:
We added this puppet to make it like as though it is our fifth member in the group. It would always like to be in the lime light, having to be on camera. It will be very curious into finding out the course, so it could be seen at certain areas trying to listen or even explore the school itself. However, it will only come to life or hide away from Yi Chuin, the creator of it.

What we have done?
-We have begin animating the door for the introduction but still in progress as we need to animate the mouse cursor and of which color the door should be
-Started doing a portion of the stone which will form the group’s name

-Introduction of group members, however it didn’t turn out to be successful.

Filming of the flowy journey but it too didn’t turn out as what we expected. We didn’t really expected that the introduction of members and even the flowy journey itself would be that tough to film. One thing for sure, the camera that we used is bulky and heavy as well. Whenever, we wanted to film the introduction of members, people would always walk past. Furthermore, when we film Ting Yu, it was kind of weird just seeing her jump so we decided to let her run up front and jump to make it more natural.

What we intend to finish by:
Thursday:
  • finish taking pictures of Ting Yu running
  • Animating of door with mouse cursor
  • Choosing of storyboard
  • Sending of script to Mr. Alan, Mr. Julian and Mr. Ronald so that they can get a hang of it what we are going to do

Friday / Saturday:

  • to complete filming of introduction of members and the 3d door

Saturday:

  • shooting of ‘flying camera’ journey

Sunday:

  • Yi Chuin continue animating the stone

Monday:

  • Film the scene of Mr. Alan and Mr. Julian

Tuesday:

  • Filming on Mr. Ronald

Not forgetting that Ting Yu had edit the storyboard by adding the mini puppet and changing of frame 39. Thanks Ting Yu too. Yup.. However, i felt that energy are wasted having the introduction to turn out to be trial runs instead but i also take it as a learning ground for me, making me learn my mistakes. Having a mistake, is another experience earn. Not to worry, we will do our utmost best into completing this project.

To Group members: Don't let our spirit and strong- will die down. let's move on forward and think positive.

Cheers people. Have to get cracking on the slides' background. Take care people

Man oh man..

Today, we didn't really get to have any discussion, the reason being was we had to do our DHC assignment which was to be presented tomorrow about SinCity where we had to visualise ourselves for 15 minutes in the year of 2030.. I came up with an idea where the buildings were to be watery form, where only those who are living in that flat would be able to enter. I also thought of just a drip of a special formulae onto the hands or limbs that are being cut off would gradually grow back, if that could really be made in the future, i believe it would be great and a bed which can produce music once you lay down on it or even by clicking the 'music' button. I thought of other ideas as well.

I must tell you i really had a tough time, not just to generate more ideas and even drawing it down so that my Lecturer Justin could visualise better. For my case, i could only draw with references, so this time i don't have any references to follow which made me panicky. I called both Ting Yu and Rina in order for myself to calm down. In the end, i just roughly looked in the room of my house and just try to modify abit. All humans that i drew was abit crappy though. My dad also helped me greatly, giving me morale support and ideas as well which actually stimulates my thinking cap even more. My mum too helped me, she accompanied me till i completed some of my drawings late in the wee hours.

*[ Tomorrow events- i typed it here as today's blog would be short ]

Lecturer Wahidah saw the 'product'. I must really thank Yi Chuin for helping me to colour some of my drawings so that i could be able to draw more images.

To Yi Chuin: Thanks for helping me to colour up my drawings, if it wasn't for you, i believe my presentation wouldn't be that nice as it will be colourless.

I believed the presentation went out well i suppose. Not forgetting Ting Yu's one was great too. She thought of an alarm clock being attached to the bed where it will only stop ringing once the person is out of bed. In other words, it can detact if anyone is on the bed. Good Job people for having to cope both modules, i believed it must be hard for all of us.

[ Take note: The presentation or rather some of the blog here was of tomorrow's. The presentation and Yi Chuin helped me was of tomorrow's as well. ]

Yup.. so basically today was a day of stress for me, as i tried ways and means how should i draw it out. Only manage to sleep for a few hours. Have to thank both Yi Chuin and God in helping me.

Continue doing my drawing.. Take care people.

A Time of Bonding

Having sent our edited script as of yesterday, today would be the day where Lecturer Wahidah would give us her honest opinions and comments of our script. She commented that we had faced problems discribing the camera movement; an example would be like mid shot of Yi Chuin's face pan down to her legs, instead it should be mid shot of the face of Yi Chuin ,tilting down to mid shot of legs. She noticed after going and looking through of other group's script, they too faced this problem. So she actually posted us a question and asked us individually of how we would describe if a camera were to take from the top of the tree and down towards the roots.

Indeed, most of us said and discribed as pan down to the roots of the tree. She corrected us and said that it is actually discribed as mid shot of the leaves of the tree, tilting down to mid shot of the tree trunk. We didn't know the term tilt as we didn't learn it before. She emphasized that knowing the difference between panning up and down and tilt up and down is actually the basic for videos. She told us that foreigners of the west also are facing this problems and we should not follow them repeating the same mistake.

After telling the class, she then returned back to commenting of our script. She asked that why would we have to make a new storyboard in frame 35 when we can actually take the storyboard done from video fundamentals, which i agreed with her after much thought. She also mentioned things like:
  • showing things alive (not really sure though )

  • giving them a glipse of what we are doing during class

  • making the shadow of the puppet quite obvious in the scene where the computer would be shown, the shadow would get bigger and clearer.

  • making people not noticing the puppet at all in the beginning but only notice it towards the end

  • what's the relationship with us and the puppet?
She also said maybe the puppet realise that it is not wanted so it decided to help us carry of things or don't disturb us. Lecturer Wahidah also mentioned making the puppet very alive where we could actually interact with the puppet or even let the audience know that the puppet wasn't supposed to come out of the painting at all. She also said the puppet is a clever fellow which never comes out whenever Yi Chuin is around.

As for the audio, she commented that we didn't have to write things that the audience would actually know, goes to show that meaningless speech can be removed or replaced. She said some of our conversations between the lecturers were weird. Sort of wanting us to like ask one question and answer one question. She also did mention the part when i was suppose to grab hold of the camera when Yi Chuin is still talking, she said that Yi Chuin should talk like as though she is going to talk non stop where i actually just grab hold of the camera to interupt her. Stating that we must be more conversational from the way we look.

As the lesson ended, we loaned out the camera. Straight away headed off to the 3D animation lab to do the animating of the door. It turned out well, just that we wasn't sure what colours would fit the door and had a problem in choosing with the texture too. Visions came running to my mind, that the door would actually turn out well in the end i believe. We didn't really start on animating the stone yet as everyone was busy doing DHC assignment.

Commercial:

Take note: Please read all my blogs with expressions. Never!! I repeat NEVER read it with a monotonous tone, if not you may fall asleep after reading it. Read it with expressions and you may fly to cloud 9.

*Commercial ends

However, both Yi Chuin and I used our time wisely and approached Mr. Ronald today. We showed him our sketchbooks and being him as usual gave a funny but cute expression. I personally feel that both Mr. Ronald and Mr. Alan has this animated look or an animated character. We sort of used Mr. Ronald's money to buy pockey and three ice milk tea.

To Mr. Ronald: Thanks for the treat.

We had a hearty chat among ourselves. Not forgetting that Vaani was there too. While chatting, we also waited for Mr. Alan to be out of the HereAfter HD room. We managed to convince Mr. Alan and Mr. Julian to help us in our production.

To myself: Good job Vivien, you indeed have proven yourself worthy and good convincing skills.
I replied: Yeh.. I sure do know about it.

Oh my human! When they actually agreed to help us, i believe both Yi Chuin and I were touched man. No doubt they said they will help us on our production but we have to take note that they would actually be free on monday. And NOT FAIR!! Mr. Alan can take leave after monday. Haha. Just kidding but i also really want to have a break too man, have been sleeping late nowadays. But i know it must be tiring for them to having to see the Final Year Project presentation, being busy for the past few weeks.

Mr. Ronald had no choice but to do what he preaches which was to help us act once Mr. Alan agreed. But i know deep down in Mr. Ronald's heart, he already wanted to help us act right. We showed Mr. Ronald the storyboard. One thing funny was when both Mr. Alan and Mr. Julian arrived to the scene, Mr. Alan actually took the picture of him in the storyboard. Not to worry Mr. Alan, you are as cute as ever. Mr. Ronald commented that since three of our members are majoring in animation, more animation should be seen in the production.

Mr. Julian , Mr. Ronald and Vaani left soon after. We continued talking to Mr. Alan, showing him the storyboard where he actually commented on it that the door could be done in After Effects or even in flash. Adding on that we can actually draw the background of the flying camera shot and of the door opening as well. Where we can actually add the background into the door when it opens. One thing i learnt or rather notice was the challenges of taking the scene when Ting Yu is running. I didn't expect it to be so tough after hearing what Mr. Alan has to say. He mentioned where we could used the blue screen, green screen and other HD equipments just to take a perfect shot of Ting Yu running in sequence, not forgetting having Ting yu to run on a running mill(not sure what it is called) as well. He commented that the idea was interesting but we should have at least test it out before really deciding to do on it. He also mentioned when the part Ting Yu will be running out of the photos and running towards Video fundamentals room, where Ting Yu could actually be animated but gradually becomes the real her upon running into the room. I personally feel that the idea was fresh but not sure whether we would have the time.

Likewise, same as Yi Chuin, i too have a poor memory so i couldn't really recall the whole conversations that we have discussed through. But i do recall them saying that they have a meeting on friday so the interim assessment may have to be on thursday instead. Not forgetting that Mr. Alan actually told us that no doubt it is a long way to go or rather we have plenty of time for the production but we shouldn't do last minute work.

We then headed to Tampines mall to meet up with Aaron and Ting Yu for dinner. It was amazing i tell you. We went to the open plaza where i actually thought it was a place for gangsters or gangsters' lovers. Haha.. Just then i saw Ting Yu and Aaron right inside the plaza man. Aaron actually asked me to try sitting on something which i don't dare to try, in fear of being flunk off with the almighty strength of Aaron i guess. Anyway, it ended up where Ting Yu sat on the thing and Aaron pushing her. Gosh! It was such a memorable sight where you could see Ting Yu smiling. It was like a dream come true for all lovers i guess, but the sad thing was i couldn't take a video of it. However, i managed to take a video when Ting Yu was spinning and Aaron was like out of the picture. Sad man what a pity.
This is the ending product:

We headed to have our dinner. Haha.. the amazing part was we never let the art of spirit died down in us even as we have eaten finish our dish. We actually used our remaining food to make an image. I actually make a peacock with the help of some cabbage and a square meat thingy and as for Aaron, he made a person holding a ballon.

Here it is:

After eating, we headed off to the ARCADE to relieve stress mah horz. It was fun man. However, we ended up being injured. It was so funny man, i actually blocked the goal with my bag and you can just imagine then. After that, not sure why but Aaron asked me to enter this mini snoopy car. Which was so lame but i didn't know why that i actually went in. Man oh man.. it was fun though having to see a 1.55 m lady sitting in this small car. Everyone was looking as they past by i supposed. When we were walking at the interchange, we actually swing our hands like as though we are primary school kids and on top of that we sang some songs. Haha.. But i really miss my childhood days come to think of it. I was more carefree. and didn't have to think of anything. Guess what.. You think we have stop here?

No way man, we actually headed to Ting Yu's place and played eye spy with my little eye. Gosh~! Yi chuin always give the toughest thing to see. Good lo. Haha and i on the other hand always give the easiest one like as though they could read my mind. We also played with Ting Yu's rabbit. Aww... So cute and also saw her younger days photos. Haha, which was cute too. Aaron was drooling on it though. Don't know why. After that, looking at the time, since it was kind of getting late so we decided to head back to our home sweet home where i got to see my cute 7 hamsters. Haha. Today was definitely a bonding time for all members man. It was AWESOME.

ATTENTION: Interim assessment to be change to thursday instead of friday

That's all folks. Hope you have enjoyed reading my blog and is in cloud 9 now.

No Time to Lose~!

Today was the day when we actually have to pass up the timeline, schedule and script as well. My heart beats faster as fast as a bullet train. In fact, i think even faster than the bullet train, so it sorted of inspired me to sing a song related to the bullet train.

There was a time
When bullet train was invented
Yes it did
Yes it did
Now we are even sitting on it
Sure we did
Sure we did
Seeing bullet trains faster and strong
Making my heart faster to see my nation going on

*[Tune of the Singapore song]

The rest of the song died down as i lost my inspiration.

We met up at the Macdonalds located right outside White Sands. Ting Yu reached first followed by Yi Chuin then me.We started out by taking down notes like what would Mr. Ronald be talking about drawing essentials, Mr. Alan be talking about ideation and Mr. Julian be talking about video fundamentals. Not forgetting, also what did we obtain from the modules, the realisation and the learning experience from the module itself and started to branch it out. I, of course on the other hand, took noticed of what they wrote and applied it onto the script if i see that the words are suitable for the speech. Haha.. i don't think you would want me to type out every detail of what we had wrote as it may go on and on and on.

Here is what Yi Chuin and Ting Yu had taken note of respectively:
Who knows, you may even sleep half way through while reading my blog. So to cut the story short, i managed to edit everyone's script as in who to say what and other audios as well. By the time Aaron came, he had little to do and he gave a long face during the whole meeting which made Yi Chuin and I really scared i believe. Maybe he encountered an incident or something unhappy happened. But anyway, we got to hand up the script, time line and even the schedule on time or on the dot at exactly 7pm sharp.

Here was what we had send to Lecturer Wahidah:

By the time, we ended our meeting and headed for home, it was already 8 plus at night. My dad bought turtle soup for dinner. YES the day, i have been yearning for. To taste the tender yet slimy flesh of the turtle. Wondering how it would taste like. But in the end, i didn't try as it looked kind of scary and come to think of how the turtle died just to be my dinner was even scarier. I took an image of it. Here it is:

The worst thing was when i didn't feel like eating it, my dad forced me to. "Is it me or did my dad just became childish for a second." I thought to myself. He actually asked me to drink the turtle soup and to think he placed it right on top of the schedule of from Monday to Wednesday, making the paper wet which means i have to print it again. And guessed what, when i said "Wah! I have to print again." My dad actually laughed. After drinking the turle soup, i continued thinking of a suitable theme. Is Transition alright?
[ Take note: I only drank the turtle soup, i didn't eat the turtle so obviously i am innocent]

So yup, time for me to rest.

The Time is drawing Closer

Sorry Yi Chuin. I asked her to give me a morning call for the meeting at 10.30am to buy the mannequin together but it seems like i had forgotten to make my handphone back to general mode, resulting to not answering of Yi Chuin's calls and replying of Yi Chuin's messages as well.

To Yi Chuin: Go ahead and hit me. Hit me to show you care, scold me to show you love. LOL [ laugh out loud ].. Anyway just for your information, i'm thinking straight.

Guess what.. I woke up at four plus man. Yi Chuin was out with her brother at Orchard area so i suggested meeting once she has done going out with her brother i guess. She also called me up saying that she is at Art Friend of Takashimaya's and asked me which size of the mannequin she should buy so haha.. i suggested to her to buy either the size of A4 or even smaller than that. So Yup, in the end she bought a slightly smaller than A4 size as she said the smaller one wasn't as pleasant looking as the one that she bought.

Just for your information, Yi Chuin bought the female version. (Secret: She couldn't differentiate a female to a male mannequin till a funny man came along ) She told me that the man was very friendly and humorous as well and she even met Apple and Jing Yuan along the way too. Cool right? I am very grateful of her as the mannequin was supposed to be bought today and there she was, buying it alone. Once again, sorry for not accompanying you ( Yi Chuin ) to buy it.

By the time we met, which is at Macdonalds in Tampines Mall, it was already close to nine which was kind of late. We discussed on where the puppet animation should be added as Lecturer Wahidah mentioned if the puppet were to close or rather pull down the credits, it would looked rather out of package. Ting Yu soon joined our discussion but sad to say Aaron couldn't make it as he was still outside working. We three then discussed and identified the shot sizes of each storyboard and of the camera movements as well. We also discussed of our schedule from Monday to Wednesday, then Yi Chuin copied down my notes and jotted it down.

The discussion was rather short maybe like two hours? As Ting Yu was rather tired having to join us straight after work and at that time, i was also getting abit dizzy so we called it a day and i had to go home and do the script. One thing for sure, it was very tiring, having to do a script all by oneself. But luckily for me, i just went back home and did the parts of the visuals first as the audio wasn't really confirmed at that point of time.

Oh ya, not forgetting that Yi Chuin went home to do on the schedule from Monday to Wednesday. She sent it to me when she had finished it and i was impressed as it really caught me in surprise, having to see it rather detailed i guess. I was really anxious by then as we have not completed the full script and the timeline as well and it was to be handed up by 7pm on Sunday. Not to worry, we made plans to meeting up tomorrow again but this time it was at 11am and at White Sands. But the faith built within me, make me strongly believe, that the timeline and script would be done and ready by tomorrow. [ will be updated soon ]

To group members: JIA YOU!! We can do it! Don't lose hope, Vivien is here. Err.. i copied one of the cartoon's line.

Will be updating you with more details tomorrow when the discussion is finalised and the timeline and script are done.
Have to go and do the script now.

Take care Humans.

18 at Long LAST

The fruitful day when i finally became 18 years of age. "Does that mean i can go clubbing and all?" I pondered to myself with a grin. But then again, what good will it bring me once i stepped upon the worldly pub which will either bring me to trouble or to the ways of the world. So today, my motto would be DETERMINATION.

Basically, as what i had mentioned in my earlier post that i found the script not detailed enough, we decided to work on it and making it more detailed. We were also informed by Lecturer Wahidah to do a schedule of what we will be doing from Monday to Tuesday,

example would be like:
-what will we be doing on these two days,
-where we will be when we are doing the production,
-if we were to be out of school, have to tell Lecturer Wahidah so that we can keep in touch and she may even come over to see if we are doing on our production. Wow! Does that mean if a group went really far away to do their production, she has to go there as well.

Hmm.. Anyway, i also jotted down that our group have to think of a new theme, as now we are not doing in a chronological manner that we thought of last time, so we will be touching on the discussion of theme as soon as possible. We were also told to update the timeline with more details or rather for each day.

To Aaron: Please don't follow my foot steps when i was taking my O levels. I admit i had the same lackadaisical attitude like yours in the past but now i'm determined to change. Sorry for being harsh on you as i really don't want to see you having the same fate as i had last time. I believed that if i were to be more disciplined and not lazed around, and not simply taking things easy. I would have done much better for my O levels.

In class, we planned out our schedule from Monday to Tuesday.
Here it is:
Monday

  • loaning of the camera
  • look for Mr. Alan and asked if he would be able to help us in the acting of our production
  • show sketchbook to Mr. Ronald for any advise
  • animating of door [ frames 4-7 ]
  • to animate the stone falling, forming the group's name (Stone Productions and Co. ) [frames 1-3 ]
  • filming the flowy journey , showing the overhead bridge, probably the canteen, 5th level and 2d animation room as well.[ frame 8 ]
  • filming the introduction of all members which will end when Yi Chuin flips the next page. [ frames 9-15 ]
  • asking of actors/ actresses for their availability to help us in the acting of production

Tuesday

  • continue animating of both the stone and on the door. [ concentration will be focused more on the door ]
  • Ting Yu and I would be doing the storyboard shown in frame 35
  • Yi Chuin would be preparing and drawing in her sketchbook which is shown on frame 14
  • Ting Yu will be preparing on her sketchbook if she has the time [frames 18-21 ]
  • get a film seen on frames 29-31
After that, we began thinking of some themes that we could address to:

  1. linkage
  2. continuity
  3. journey
  4. improving
  5. upgrade
  6. reflection
  7. transition

*Please kindly vote if you see which one best suits our production

My task was to go home and research more on those words, finding suitable words for the theme which will be shown and be discussed with the rest of the group members the day when everyone is available.
Yi Chuin mentioned to me that the word should not be too chim and weird.
As for me, my another homework was to make the script in more details. I also thought of adding the words: Journey is not the end. It is just the beginning when i was in class at that point of time.

There it was, Lecturer Wahidah had read our script and it was time to hear her comments. She told us to include :

  • what is the value that we got out from the course?
  • what is the something extra, and try illustrating that point

-its about teamwork

-being creativity and doing it creatively

  • what is the added value in being in Temasek Polytechnic

-by enrolling in TP, have the ability to do flash and.......

-show demonstration

-through demonstration,able to learn faster

  • more than just what we will be in this cource but of more what we had went through
  • What is the keypoint you want to say

She also asked us to include the biggest lesson we have learnt, importance of storyboarding, have to be very comfortable like talking to audience when we were to talk facing the camera. She also mentioned to elaborate more of the obstacles, to be more specific of what we said was fun and be frank as the target audience want to know more of our experience. She also wanted us to show the bonding among our group members instead of just saying it out. She also mentioned that she found our last part where the puppet is seen pulling down the credits to be abit weird. Like as though the puppet just want to close for the day and it seems that the puppet came out of no where.

Having hearing all that, i was even more determined to do it and finish it faster i guess as i really didn't like last minute work so i called up for a meeting, to meet up at 10.30 am in the morning tomorrow.

Meeting up with Yi Chuin first. Haha..

Hope i will be able to wake up on time.

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone

" One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life; that word is LOVE."
-Sophocles
Valentine's day message to all:
Ever felt as though you are going to crack with all the weight of the world on your back and it seems that you just need someone who really understands and accepts you for who you are? Maybe you are contented, but do you know what you are missing out on? Or perhaps you are just searching for something of value...

Just as i stepped into the dazzling 'gate' of Design school, my heart drawn closer as i knew my birthday is coming. Awaiting for someone to wish me Happy Birthday i guess. Just then, i saw Yi Chuin and some of my classmates, we then proceeded to go to the canteen. Out of a sudden, i saw Ting Yu and she asked me my birthday was tomorrow right. I immediately answered her with a stern yes. Just then she showed me a cake that she bought for my birthday and another small cake for my parents. Indeed it was a shocking news to me, she bought one day in advance and the reason was she thought that there is no lessons tomorrow. I took a photo of the cake she bought me.

Here it is:
After having my birthday wish, my fellow classmates followed suit and wished me with warm greetings from their hearts. I was really shocked as i am a person who don't really want the world to know my birthday, or rather i would like to secretly celebrate my birthday.
To Ting Yu: Thanks for buying the cake for me man and for my parents as well. Was really shocked but grateful at the same time. When your birthday comes ah, i may give you a birthday bash. Haha,, just kidding. anyway really thanks alot.
To fellow other classmates: Thanks for your warm greetings. Really appreciate it.

After that, we proceeded to go to our respective classrooms, where Lecturer Wahidah was asking of the timeline that Aaron did which he basically send to the wrong email and of the script. We hurriedly asked permission from Lecturer Wahidah to go to a lab room where we then used the computer and sorted out our script. Sorry Lecturer Wahidah, we misunderstood you, we thought it was a script that only of what we wanted to say. But anyway thanks to that script we did previously, and with the help from the storyboard, we quickly do the story script. For me i personally felt that the script that was shown to Lecturer Wahidah wasn't detailed enough so i volunteered making it more detail. Basically, not much discussions were done today as i think the rest of my group mates will be celebrating Valentine's Day i guess. Hehex.. i went to my boy friend's shop soon after and received a lovely bunch of roses from him. Haha i know i am mean. Because i didn't give him anything but it was also cost of due to the lack of time.

Here is the roses:

hehex.. but anyway i did enjoy myself.

Thanks all and have a blessed Valentine's Day

A time Of REST

Finally!! The moment you have been waiting for. Taadaa.. STORYBOARD~!!

Basically, this is the finalised storyboard. Get a clearer picture of what i was trying to say in my previous blog now. Click on the image to have a clearer view.

Today was more of a time of rest, we didn't really discuss much today as we decided that we should concentrate and do the design, history and cultural assignment which is to be handed up on the next day itself.

Just to tell you what happened briefly during our lesson. Lecturer Wahidah asked the whole class that why should there be an interim assessment. She said that during the interim assessment, the group should have started their production. She added on that during the interim, the production need not be finish as she wants us to be able to do our best ,emphasizing us to do well for the pre- production first before proceeding on.
She also asked us to look on :
  • our objective of the production,
  • what our video was supposed to do
  • and at least have to meet the objective,
  • showcase what we have done,
  • same time telling the audience that this is a good course.
She gave us information that we are not allowed to borrow the camera this week but only the next week and told us not to overdo our production, just keeping to a simplified version would do if the part were to send out the same message. Telling us that at the end of the day, the audience is the judge.
She told us to do a shooting script whereby one page would be one minute so we have to do approximately ten pages. We are only allowed to proceed on our production once the blueprint is ready. Like i have mentioned before, the pre- production is very crucial and important, if the pre- production is weak no matter how well you film, it will still make you fall. She also asked us questions like how to make sure that when we edit the video it would be easier? She said it is the best time to edit on the shoot itself . Whereby a person would be standing beside the camera man, taking note which take is NG and which is a perfect shot. So that we would be more clear as to which takes are the ones that we want instead of wasting time having to see the whole video and to choose which part to include. This was the example she told us to do:
Taken from Yi Chuin.
Anyway, the shot list should look something similar to this. She said that we should know these things as it is crucial once we step out of our comfort zone and starting to enter the working society and when we do our SIP, we need to do a shot list, standing next to the director, taking notes. Therefore, Lecturer Wahidah took her time and explaining it to all of us. From here, i can really see that she really wants us to learn and gain not just the knowledge but a skill as well. I can also see how much she cares for her students if not she wouldn't even bother saying all these to us, in details some more.
She gave us extra information on how to deal with a problem when we are facing some digital difficulties which is to do paper editing. So basically having the shot list in itself, it not only makes us know which take is good and making us more clear, and knowing which is the potential ones. When we begin to digitise, we can just look at those with the good remarks. She also asked that before the camera rolls, what must be done to say that the shoot is over? She gave an example that when the camera is rolling ,some commands must take place so that to get the actors/actress ready, all coordinated which most likely will result in a good take i suppose. She also asked us what must the director say before saying camera rolling? the answer is standby for a take, silence on the set, have to give count down of at least five seconds so that the people can get into the mood of acting.
She also emphasizied that since we have limited equipment, we should think wisely and use them wisely, taking the equipments to our advantage. I believe that what all our Lecturer said is for the sake of our future. I believe she wants us to not only produce a splendid production out of this module but also gaining of wisdom and knowledge from her. I'm really grateful for her sacrificing her time, telling us how the working society would be like. After the lessons were over, my group members discussed on the equipments and props that were needed.
Here is the List of equipments:
  • camera boom mike
  • lighting
  • tripod
  • polaroid camera
  • black card
Here is the list of props:
  • computer
  • 8 a3 sketchbooks
  • 1 a4 sketchbook
  • storyboard
  • ideation works
  • photos

Things to ponder:
  • take out personal stories
  • just put in abit of info about the module
  • what you have gone through and get out of the module
eg i realised i have a hidden talent
Haha..that's all folks. After the discussion, we headed back home to complete our design , history and cultural assignment.
