| Woot! I was very excited upon hearing the news from Yi Chuin that we would be changing class room. I sort of find the previous classroom abit cramp and blocking some of my classmate's view. I was truly grateful to Lecturer Wahidah that she was thoughtful and was willing to give her students' the best environment to absorb and listen to what she would be teaching. When we entered the 'new' classroom, i was stunned. It was HUGE as in bigger. What stunned me next was when we merged with Mr. Alan's class. We were then introduced to a show " Capturing the fried mans". It was more of a HBO documentary film. I was actually impressed in the way how they actually can able to link their childhood days video to the present. In fact, from here i can conclude that this family really treasure their stuffs and memories as well. However, what was saddening was their father actually raped a few children. When i watched the film, i didn't really capture what the director was trying to convey, but after Lecturer Wahidah explained that it was a footage of this family when they used to be happy in the past, however when the police received a pornography magazine/ disc did he try investigating and finally found out that the father actually raped kids. I felt sad for them as being a 18 year old teenage girl , i can already feel the pain having to live far away from my parents. It must really hurt them alot seeing their parents divorced. Mr. Alan added that we should include our emotions inside the film and told us to learn the technique of leaving some bloopers for a reason. I have to agree most people wouldn't want others to see their embarass moment or even times when they actually quarreled with each other, however this film not only added once but even the trail had been shown. i would indeed want to try how i should bring my feelings across just by watching a film. Following next, we saw "Bowling for columbine". It was pretty lame. I find it weird having just opening an account and you can get a gun for free. OH MY GOD!! Wonder how many people have taken their guns. I think they really should forgo this idea of giving out guns to people just to promote their bank or place. I find it really dangerous for the children outside, having to face people with guns around, holding fear in their hearts everywhere they go. The part where they let the dogs carry the rifles or guns just to make the dog looks interesting was okie for me but when it actually shoot the chin of its master. THAt i find it lame. But i do hope that people would not just think of making something or someone looks nice or interesting but don't bother the safety of the surroundings. Even tones and sounds are essential for a film as it can change the mood and the feeling you want to portray in a film. As no more videos were being played, Mr. Alan's class head off first and we were then assigned to have our group discussion. We were short of one group mate as he was sick so we told Lecturer Wahidah if we could go online upstairs so that we could discuss with him too. She even went up to look for us and asked how our progress was coming along which i think it was very sweet of her. We had difficulty getting online. But at least, we are more aware of who should take which role. Leader- Ting Yu, Scribe- Me, Cameraman- Aaron, Edit of video using premire and after effects- Aaron assisted by Yi Chuin and Doing of animation- would most probably be all of us including the role of actors. We also discussed on our introduction once again and were even thinking of not introducing all modules. But after much consideration, we decided to intro all and if we don't really have the time, we may then exclude the module. Previously on the previous episode i was saying how our introduction would be like. Now it had some slight modifications. In the starting, Aaron would roar and Yi Chuin suggested using many videos to form the word Moi. I was then wondering if we are able to capture all sixty classmates of Moi to form the word instead. Then the Word MOi would zoom infront and show screen of a person playing his/her computer where he/she actually press a door and the door will open and accompanied with the narrator sound "enter the ride of your life". Then the next part was humorous. I told Aaron i may want the scene to flow maybe abit like a roller coaster ride from the start of the staircase to the design entrance then taking turns in introducing our group members. Aaron voiced out and said it would be boring if it was just to film the way to the design entrance and it would be better if we were to have just a glimpse of maybe the whole of design school. I thought his idea was cool though. Our discussion ended here as i had to go for my next module. (Hint: I am still doing the homework). AHAHHAHA.. Bye for now my little diary, and friends. Back to my homework. Nites... |

Waiting In Suspense( for references)
Oh boy! The song in the horror show keeps playing in my head. Have been sleeping late habitually nowadays. What if i am becoming a 'vampire' woman and that would be BLOODY COOL MAN ! *Evil Laugh*
Once again, we gathered in LT25 but this time with a slower pace, no rushing though. Everyone awaits the samples done by the seniors. Obviously i was anxious myself. When i entered, i saw Mr. Siddons standing infront of the table. He then proceeded and shared with us what he would be expecting in our videos making and told us that we will be creating a documentation of our journey with the hope of attracting people into joining MOI. He said we are free to document it anyway we like and also added that we should go through our project brief and highlight some code words. *Drum Rolls* There it was, he showed us the first clip. However, it was not made by the seniors. Instead he showed us " Lord of The Rings-the fellowship of the ring". Upon watching, one phrase caught my attention and it was 'fantasy rooted in reality'. I was really astonished that the scenes in Lord Of The Rings were actually cited in New Zealand. It was truly amazing.
The next clip " Found on Everest: detectives on the roof of the world" was then shown. I liked the way the words are being typed out accompanied with the sound of wind, giving a large hint that it was associated somewhere that was very cold and windy. Even Lecturer Wahidah found it impressive herself. The introduction was more of what my group had planned but with modifications. However, we also noted after the introduction, they failed to define the objective and that really spoilt the film . To the extent Gary saying he would fail it. Mr. Siddons further elaborated that they didn't compliment the actor's face or rather the face doesn't look appealing. He also added that [ opening- layout, blueprint to audience] which i didn't really quite understand.
" Gangs of New York" was shown next and i must say, i was impressed of how the director used the creation of illusion in his film. Mr. Siddons emphasized that the location and backdrop is essential as it can either build or break a production. We must choose wisely which location would be interesting and not just aimlessly shoot for the sake of shooting. TADAAH~~ It was Mr. Ronald's turn. He came forward, showing us an introduction of Hostage and one word to describe it "AWESOME!!!!". But sad to say the introduction was more suitable of a horror or murderous show and so we decided to forgo that idea of modifying it.
The next clip was "Full Metal Jacket". They used music as an introduction. It was really funny when the guys had to shave their head bald. I could feel their heart broken to pieces and the song accompanied was ' goodbye sweetheart', it was like kissing goodbye to their hair and even their loved ones. I must admit, after watching this, it springs forth an idea of perhaps by adding a song for the introduction as well. We then watched an introduction of Iron man. Everybody thought it was pirated. [ Reason: Too good man.. looks like the real thing] We proceeded watching Monsters Inc. and damn the monsters are so adorable. We saw both the introduction and ending of it which i found it interesting at the end where the blue monster actually open the door and say boo. HAHA i know i am lame.
Wow!! Next the minute you have been waiting for.. * Drums rolling, feets stomping, teeth grinning, eyes popping out, ears going deaf, hands going numb..etc...* Oh my human, the next introduction i watched was "Shot them Up". I can definitely tell you this was the one that really impressed me the most. They even used the guns as the buildings. HOHO.. i must say the director of this film is either too creative or born with too much brain juice. Arghh!! Hope i can steal some of his brain juice man. Even the ending part, where the credits were being shown and blood flows down in between the words. I found it impressive. Do you think i could think like that too? God reply: Of course you can la. I replied: Thanks man. Anyway back to the picture, i was totally stunned, eyes nearly popped out( abit gruesome? Yeh but i like it!!) From here, Ting Yu got inspired and we may want to modify that part too.
Not forgetting, the finale where our Lecturer Wahidah showed us one archive footage, which was "The Fog of War". I liked the way they managed to merge old film with the new one together. It somehow served as a standard reference guide to us. After watching these films - introductions and endings, i believe everyone was inspired to improve on their process of film making. After leaving LT25, i just shared with Yi Chuin, Ting Yu and Aaron what concept i had in mind. I shared that i may want to have the title of the film or even the one that i had mentioned before, replacing the lion's head to Aaron's instead, having a sudden outburst to make it more captivating to our eyes. Leading to the next scene where a button with the word "enter the ride of your life" will be pressed on and lead to the next scene showing the twirl around design entrance and then introducing every of our group members.
Haha.. Pardon me if you don't really get what i mean. Waiting for group members' opinions. Not to mention, we are still in the midst of coming up with a title.. Still in progress. Stay tune to find out more in the next episode.

-Team Bonding Day-

Upon hearing M/s Wahidah requesting to see each and everyone's blog, i was shock. Little did i expect that our blogs would be showcased to the whole class. As my turn draws closer, i could feel my heart in my mouth. I just briefly summerized on what i had wrote and feedbacks were given to include more details on what our group members had discussed. Heeding their advice, here is what we discussed yesterday: we planned to replace the lion to Aaron's head instead which is illustrated on the right.------------------> I found this idea pretty funny and interesting as well. We also roughly jotted down the modules that we previously went through but we haven't go deep in depth yet as to who should introduce what. We also thought of writing information about Drawing Essentials on a letter and at the left hand corner would be a video showing the process. From here, i suggested a person from the video coming out and jump into a computer screen becoming an animation. My group members found it tedious, so we decided to drop the idea. I would say this is basically what we had brainstormed on yesterday.
Back on track- We then contributed on what the main message for the video would be and chose " MOI is a fun( through the learning process, having to feel happy and satisfied with the outcome of an assignment or project) and challenging( having to meet the requirements and expectations) course as the main one. The other two messages that Aaron contributed was more of a slogan which we thought of doing some commercial breaks if we have the time to. Guess what... We had homework which is to browse through websites provided and to pick which type of documentary we want to imply. And there it was THE END of the lesson. But WAIT... It still continues. Curious to know what we had discussed today? Scroll down...
I suggested using 'prayer' as a theme where at the introduction showing a girl( she is at the beach) seeking God in which course to go and a bottle just roll towards her. She opened the cap of the bottle and pull out a scroll. The scroll have the words Moving images and at the bottom showing a video of a lady standing next to a table with a letter on it. I suggested that the lady in the scroll pulls the girl at the beach into the letter. But then again, my group members said it was tedious. We then skipped and brainstormed on how our introduction should be like and decided to intro all of us. We initially thought of Yi Chuin and I walking towards Design school and Aaron would zoom in to us and intro with words being typed that is and so forth. Yi Chuin voiced out bravely and suggested it would be better if each of us were to be introduce with our own style instead. We heed her advice and decided to make it work but we didn't think much in depth yet. We end our meeting, and you will never guess: Ting Yu, Aaron and I went to watch a horror movie and surprisingly even a horror movie can inspire me.
I was really impressed of the way the people did in their introduction so i suggested applying but modifying the intro to fit ours. We ate at a kopitiam and discussed even further. This time listing out the modules in chronological order. Our idea was so as to make it more organised and trying hard to link every modules together, taking aside CDS. One thing for sure, i really enjoyed this outing as it was more of a bonding session to me. We even became crazy. Haha.. Aaron drew a picture of Kheng Li and said he looks like a potato. ( Weird but HAHA
, will be shown in a picture later) And Aaron even insulted my drawing, i was drawing a snake and he thought it was a caterpillar. Man Oh Man!! Big Difference man (Aaron's eye got problem) We also drew a cat. Okie i know it is irrelevant. This is the moment you have been waiting for. LOL on the left<--------Kinda obvious though.

Big Difference man (Aaron's eye got problem) We also drew a cat. Okie i know it is irrelevant. This is the moment you have been waiting for. LOL on the left<--------Kinda obvious though. But i was really amazed man. Aaron had many ideas flowing profusely from his head after the horror show. He suggested something like a picture within a picture and many other funny stuffs. Whereas I on the other hand suggested using magic powers to bend a wire to form a 3d art fundamental's product. You guessed it!! They gave me a lame look but said it was interesting. So basically for COMDI we will be like doing on a presentation of Drawing Essentials( picture to a video) err.. quite tough to explain it in details though. Until then.... Oh wait let me at least brief on what we brainstorm. Basically what we come up is to link all the modules together. We didn't think of the conclusion yet though. Haha (Reason: was very late already)
Please take NOTE: To all my group members, thanks for letting me have a great time today. I really enjoyed myself and it was really WANKY. Haha.. So no matter what we do, do cooperate with each other ya!!
*YAwn* 2.22pm le. Should i sleep now? Haha so yup you guessed it. We brainstorm till like this. Haha i think i am lacking of brain juice. Oh wait a minute i have to chase my brain. She is running away.
Signing off,
The sleepy Vivien at the moment

Introduction
| " My oh my..." was what kept stirring in my head as i waited patiently outside LT 25 along with my fellow MOI-ers. As soon as we had the permission to enter the Lecture Threatre, you can see streams of people rushing through the 'mini' door. Many found seats and sat comfortably, especially me. I was certain i was happy being able to see all lecturers gathering in the threatre with all their 'children' inside. Just when Mr. Alan said about the brief, my heart sank but at the same time overwhelmed with joy as i will have a better knowledge of what to do for the project. Basically, we had to produce a 10-12 minute video clip of our journey through the first year of MOI. I found it very interesting as it not only serves as a recap but also being able to experience both the software and hardware once more. Furthermore, it was also a great way to promote our course which i really felt proud off. Not to mention that the target audience were to be students at the Orientation and Open House and parents as well. I just can't wait. We were also brief on our assessment and timeline. What was funny today was when Mr. Alan told us that lecturers would be rotating to teach classes and many of us visualised Mr. Ronald spinning. (Cool! That would be great! I can see Mr. Ronald when he is slimmer.) -a very memorable event indeed. We then were told to return to our respective classes and form groups of four or five. We truly faced difficulties in forming our group. However, we managed to overcome our problem and the finalised group members are Ting Yu, Yi Chuin, Aaron and ME of course! We were then given time by our lecturer Wahidah to brainstorm on what to do instead of just lazing around without producing any results. We managed to generate several ideas and guess what. We will generate more! Woot! May God Bless everyone with their projects. God Bless. |
